The following chapter describes the elements of the JobRouter encryption. JobRouter is using the AES-256-CTR method for encryption.
Important note
Please note: Before performing the update to JobRouter version 5.1 we recommend to run a complete Backup of your JobRouter web application.
Please note: Please perform the update to JobRouter version 5.1 on the main instance first, otherwise errors may occur.
After successful installation / update to JobRouter version 5.1:
Please note: In case of an Instance key loss it is not possible to retrieve the data that has been encrypted with it. Further keys that are worthy of protection are additionally encrypted with the Instance key, which is why we recommend an additional Backup for these keys.
For an additional safeguarding of the Instance key of your JobRouter web application you can use the Environment variable JR_SECRET in IIS. For further details please see the chapter JR_SECRET.
Please note: The safeguarding of your Instance key does only make sense if you want to operate a cloud environment.
